I’m so silly! I forgot to post a borderless version for your consideration. Big difference, actually.
Thanks to those who have already given me feedback :) You guys are quick!

This is it. I think I have it! It still looks like the minimalist version that everyone voted for, but with slightly more flair, which is more my style.
Black border or no? I was just excited to figure out how to do it. GIMP is so frustrating. By the way, any offness in spacing is because I haven’t figured out which tools to use to make words completely centered. My eyes simply aren’t good enough.
Thanks to everyone for giving me their opinions last time. I know this is tiresome, but I wouldn’t be able to improve without everyone’s help. I appreciate it :)
Here are three new versions, playing with the same two fonts. People basically confirmed what I already knew: I like illegible fonts. What I’m worried about these versions is that they look too basic. I’m a minimalist, but I don’t want to blend in.
(Lisa, I’m going to worry about the copy after I figure out the logo now. Too much going on!)
Thoughts?
Ta-daaaa.
As I’m forging more of an online identity for myself, I needed to give more thought to how I come off to people.
I went through a whole bunch of ideas before I went back to “kaleidoscopic,” the name of my old Wordpress. At the time, I picked the name because I wanted to talk about several subjects and not restrict myself to a particular theme. I still take the same approach to blogging. “Kaleidoscopic” gave the sense that the blog was always changing itself. “Kaleido” is a shorter, catchier version of that. I almost think of it as the name of a character. It also means “beautiful form,” which is perfect since I thrive off of visual stimulation, and hopefully my work also reflects that.
The font doesn’t exactly fit my casual-but-hip idea for “kaleido,” but I returned to it because I couldn’t shake it off and was tired of searching through fonts that all looked the same after a while. I did want to come off as more friendly, but I think that’s possible with accompanying copy in a different font (see second image).
Thoughts? Constructive feedback?
